The installation of the AAE Fire Protection System designs is approved under many Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Since its first introduction in 1997, the AAE Fire Protection System has been improved many times and has achieved numerous foreign approvals and validations, including EASA approval of our B737 Series FPS, A320 FPS, DC9 / MD88 / MD-90-30 Series FPS, and Fokker F100 FPS.
The European Aviation Safety Administration (EASA) is now requiring the same – refer to the “Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1159” dated August 5, 2020 which amends Regulations (EU) No. 1321/2014 and (EU) No. 2015/640, introducing new airworthiness requirements for Class “D” cargo compartments, et al. The EASA rules, however, are more stringent in that they require a metering suppression system that maintains at least 3% concentration “everywhere” (at all points) in the cargo compartment for the required duration of protection.
